Styling your Christmas Table, the Florence + Blank Way.
You’ve opened your presents, the fire is lit and the bottle of bubbly is chilled and ready to go. Now for the pièce de resistance; the Christmas roast dinner. Any home interior enthusiast will get excited at the prospect of putting together a beautiful table setting, ready for friends and family to admire before tucking in to a festive feast, so we have compiled our guide to styling your Christmas table, the F+B way.
Table Decorating Ideas
With the countdown to Christmas well underway, it’s time to think about how to add some festive flair to your table. Read on for our favourite ways to style a Christmas table this year using handcrafted artisan elements and sustainable decorations.
Hint of green
The colour green is both traditionally festive and a bang on trend this year. Deep forest greens are a gratifying reflection of the natural world (and your Norway Spruce in the corner) so for this table setting theme, we love the look of deep green napkins folded into Christmas tree shapes. A table runner made from seasonal foliage and our green edged platters, perfect for serving your roast potatoes or turkey trimmings. Set the table with gold cutlery and green glassware to complete the look with a touch of panache.
We couldn’t write a blog on Christmas table decorating ideas and not include a red scheme. We put the Florence + Blank twist on this traditional arrangement by including matte finishes, rustic touches and natural shades. Set the table with a simple linen tablecloth and make use of our red striped tea towels which double up as placemats by simply folding in half. A red berry table runner with tealights in jam jars brings this rustic red table setting together. As you’re bound to be sat at the table for quite some time during your epic festive feast, why not finish the look off with a supportive handmade cushion on each chair for comfort and style.
The neutral Scandi-style always comes back as a popular theme of interior design at Christmas, thanks to its snowy Scandinavian origin. With a focus on textural touches and neutral colours, we love the look of a table laid with a crisp white table cloth and a hessian table runner, scattered with origami paper stars and laid with neutral artisan crockery. This understated Christmas table setting creates a wonderfully informal atmosphere where good conversation and delicious cooking take centre stage.
On a cold December’s day, bring warmth and light to your table with candles galore. This theme works with any colour scheme, so you don’t need to rush out to buy yourself a new set of napkins! Simply fill the middle of the table with tall tapered candles set in stylish candle holders to bring height and dynamism to your table and weave dewdrop fairy lights around the base for added sparkle. Set the table with cut crystal glasses to reflect the warm glow of your centrepiece and you’re ready for a magical Christmas evening.
